Slumdog Crorepati- Bollywood Music and Movie Review

May 15, 2009 by funk · View Comments

Slumdog Crorepati is getting released in India on the January 23, 2009. The movie is the Hindi dubbed version of Director Danny Boyle’s top work, the “Slum dog Millionaire”, which has already been hitting the world with amazement. The film has courted some controversy while trying to infringe copyrights of “Who wants to be a millionaire”. Loveleen Tandon is the casting director of the movie, whereas it has been produced by Fox Searchlights.

Adapted from the book “Q&A” by Vikas Swarup, Slumdog Crorepati, which is a multiple Golden Globe Award winner in 2008 (Drama Films), revolves around the dramatic change of fortune of a slum boy when he lands the spoils worth 20 million in the Indian version of the game show “Who wants to be a Millionaire”. The role of Jamal Malik, the slum boy, is played by newcomer Dev Patel.

The music of film Slumdog Crorepati is given by none other than the maestro Mr. A.R.Rehman. Song ‘Jay Ho’ is already running big on the charts. Frieda Pinto and Dev Patel are the new names in the film, but they have done well alongside industry stalwarts Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor.

Slumdog Crorepati has done remarkably well in US and UK and has cornered quite some booty. Even, its music launched earlier this week in India is being lapped up with warmth. The movie is expected to fare well as it binds the fabric of reality television to the cinematic platform.

Slumdog Crorepati talks honestly about the conflicts arising out of poverty and turnarounds that destiny can always come up with. Perseverance and composure in euphoric situation always takes people places in life. Here is hoping that the movie does at least half as well as its English counterpart.
