It is time to rejoice, your favorite pirate is back. This time Jack Sparrow and friends embark in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides are on a mission to find the elusive fountain of youth. Johnny Depp has been loved for his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow and it’s least likely that fans are going to hate him in the newest adventure. In the latest Pirates of the Caribbean offering, Johnny Depp is brilliant his usual animated self. As always Depp’s facial expressions are remarkable. Like previous Pirates of the Caribbean installments this one too is filled with loads of thrills. The only issue is the annoying length of the movie, but of course fans won’t mind that. Keith Richards in a cameo as Jack Sparrows father is dynamic. This legendary rolling stone sure doesn’t gather moss.
Penelope Cruz as Angelica doesn’t have much to do. Well, with Jack Sparrow being the central character of the movie, there’s little left to imagination. The in-your face Jack Sparrow is a treat to watch. The theatrically clumsy yet lovable persona Johnny Depp brings to life is magical. In previous installments one does not get to hear Jonny Depp a lot, that’s because most of his expressions say it all. In this one though, you get to witness the varying tonal differences with various moods exhibited by Johnny Depp. It is a joy to watch Jack Sparrow alter his voice and expression in accordance with different situations he encounters.
With Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall has his audience wide eyed. You don’t have time to blink. The visuals on screen captivate you. You get engrossed in the story. Geoffrey Rush dons the role of Barbossa, a rival pirate effortlessly. A kaleidoscope of events can be a bother in most movies, but not on this one. On Stranger Tides is not brilliant but it offers what fans crave for, entertainment.
