The movie New York the is about the lives of the muslins living in New York and how their life has changed post 9/11. The film set in a post 9/11 setting revolves around three friends Maya(Katrina Kaif) Omar(john Abraham) and Sameer(Neil Nitin Mukesh).
In the beginning of the film we se Sameer held by the FBI officer Irfan Khan (Roshan) for allegedly carrying arms in his car. Latter on this turns out to be a plan by Roshan to compel Sameer to act as an undercover agent in his own friend Omar’s house who they suspect of being a terrorist. Sameer is forced to agree.
In Omar’s house Sameer meets his crush Maya who is now married to Omar and also has a child. Omar tells Sameer a different story about torture and humiliation that he suffered for 9 months for just for being a Muslim who worshiped Allah and was dark skinned.
The effort by Kabir Khan to portray the picture of New York post 9/11 is noteworthy. However the script fails him, so does the music and the acting.
A theme of such a magnitude requires a lot of mature handling without the silly songs sequence and epilogues about patriotism that is trusted in the movie.
Overall the movie was a disappointment though it had the potential of being a great
crowd puller.
