Luck: Movie Review

Director Soham Shah tries to weave a story where “luck” plays an important role in the lives of all the protagonists of the story. By the time the movie ends it seems that Mr Shah needs some lucky charm to ensure good business of his “luck “at the box office.

The film revolves around a mafia boss called Kareem Musa (Sanjay Dutt) who embarks on a mission to test the luck of a chosen few people from around the world along with his aid Laakhan Tamaang (Danny Denzongpa). Laakhan chooses twenty people ( based on their luck factor) for the dangerous game. The stake is 20 crore rupees in 20 days.

What follows is a story of luck, fear, betrayal and death defying stunts.

The various characters who essay the role of a pawn in Kareem Musa’s game of luck are Imran Khan as Ram Mehra, Mithun Chakraborty as Major Jabbar Pratap Singh, Ravi Kishan as Raghav Raghuvan , Chitrashi Rawat as Shortcut and Shruti Haasan as Ayesha.

The film scores low in the acting department besides a few good shots by Sanjay Dutt and Danny Denzongpa. The screenplay, direction and the script everything disappoints to the point of making a thriller appear like a comedy show. The music is also of a forgettable quality. In short “luck” fails to bring any “luck” to Bollywood suffering from a serious need of a hit movie..
