Gulal: Bollywood Music and Movie Review

August 12, 2009 by funk · View Comments

The very famous Anuraag Kashyap is a director, who works on off the league topics. Earlier examples are Dev-D, No-Smoking etc. Gulal is yet another example of his inimitable talent. Gulal, which hit the theaters on March 13, 2009, had an impressive casting of the movie includes Kay Kay Menon, Abhimanyu Singh, Aditya Srivastava, Pankaj Jha, Jesse Randhawa, Deepak Dobriyal and Ayesha Mohan. This offbeat movie has given its audiences realistic dialogues and soulful music. Meaningful lyrics add on to the credence of the movie. The credit of superb editing, audiography and cinematography goes to Rajeev Ravi.

The versatile actor Kay Kay Menon plays Dunkey Bana, who is a corrupt successor of a princely Rajput family. He stoops down to resurrect the lost glory. Here enters another character Rananjai Singh (Abhimanyu), who has developed strong hatred for the past, is leading nowhere presently and have absolutely no plans for the future.

Yet another manipulative fellow is played by Aditya Srivastava, who wants to annex Dunkey’s position. However, he unfortunately fall a prey of his own nastiness. Other characters such as Anuja (Jesse), Jadwal (Pankaj Jha), Kiran (Ayesha) and Bhati (Deepak) each one have their own plots separately. Lastly enters the story catalyst played by Raja Chaudhary, now what would be next color of Gulal?

As usual, Kay Kay Menon has done a commendable job in Gulal and ably supported by Abhimanyu and Deepak. Gulal has also given a good platform to Raja and Aditya. They are also exceptionally well blended in the entire frame while the girls Ayesha, Jesse and Mahie are also eye catching. The movie is not only going full in multiplexes, but the tit-bit theaters are also getting overwhelming response. Thus, gulal is an over all a movie for all classes.

So, color your spirits in this Holi season in Anuraag Kashyap’s Gulal. There is no doubt that you will move out of the theater in the most colorful of spirits.
