Surya gets in the middle of a communal riot in Mumbai after his out of the town trip. Anupam Kher plays the role of Faroukh, a police official who stops Surya. Later in the movie, he loses all his money that he had collected to go to Dubai, and he ends up playing carom again, not for passion but as a source of money. The movie shows how he gambles by playing carrom for money and ultimately stands face to face with one of the mighty gangsters Jaleel played by Adithya Pancholi whom Surya hated the most from his childhood.

Noorie (Nicolette Bird) plays the love interest of Surya in this movie. Zaid (Ankur) is a friend of Suryas who comes forth with a commendable performance. The producer cum director Chandan Arora did his best to make the audience feel good throughout apart from some portions were the movie confuses the audience. All in all, a good movie lacking in solid script.

This movie is featured in many interviews and recently the stars of this movie were invited to ring the NASDAQ opening bell which got huge publicity in India. In an interview with Shahrukh Khan, he revealed that the movie is not about terrorism or WTC attacks .The movie speaks about the relationships between two people, between a man and a state, a man and a country. Shahrukh Khan added that this movie has everything from a love story to Islam and autism.

In the movie trailers, Shahrukh Khan is seen as an autistic individual. My Name is Khan is produced under Shahrukh Khan’s home production banner Red Chillies Entertainment, and Dharma Productions. Parag Dixit is spending his days peacefully with a good job and the love of his life- Mansi. Life takes a turn when he falls in trouble and wakes up in jail, handcuffed. He wishes that he is observing a bad dream but soon realizes that it is all a truth when he falls prey to the jail anarchy.

The two friends played by Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan as Arjun and Munnu respectively. The female lead is Asin. Arjun and Munnu are childhood friends whose families share a friendly relation. Arjun being more practical and ambitious guy holds only aim in life is to perform on the stage and fulfill his grandfather’s dream.

On the contrary Mannu is more materialistic, still a kid at heart and interested only in the musical instruments of his father (who teaches music). Arjun runs away from his home and wanders on the streets of London and ends up in a shop. There he keeps brushing up his talent, when he meets two brothers from Pakistan (Ranvijay, and Wasim).

Three of them decide to form a band, that’s when Arjun runs into Priya (Asin) who is a music lover and joins the band as a dancer. On the other side, in Punjab, Mannu is satisfied singing at marriage parties. Arjun offers him to join their band and come to London. Mannu starts singing and becomes an instant hit and a threat to Arjun’s career as well as unintentionally snatches away the love of his life- Asin. How Arjun tries to get back attention and realizes the true meaning of acceptance.

Meanwhile Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) fall in love with Nitin and Ram respectively. Both are daughters of rich parents who will not allow their daughter to marry such peasants. So, they devise a kidnapping plan which goes accordingly, and now they are waiting for the ransom money in a hotel where they are hiding. However, this is the same hotel in which Manpreet’s wedding is going to happen. What happens next is complete comedy of confusion, as usual Priyadarshan style. The musical score is given by Pritam.

Overall, a little editing would have worked better to make viewers laugh at one situation after another rather than have to wait for humor to build up. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is not a satirical comedy and has no ounce of seriousness in it so it’s best if you don’t look for logic. Editing goofs too have been overlooked and Upen Patel’s role isn’t too great and there’s great difficulty figuring whether he’s from London, or Canada. Leave aside the thinking and even happy club seems passé, but Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani has its moments of comic glory.

Avantika (Kareena Kapoor) is a teacher by profession in New York who comes to India because her father has suffered a heart attack. Her father’s condition forces Avantika to leave her job in New York and starts teaching in Delhi University. Here she meets Ehsaan Khan (Saif Ali Khan), who is also a professor in Delhi University. Soon they realize that they are in love. Out of the blue Avantika receives a call from her New York job where she is asked to join again.

Avantika tells Ehsaan about it to which he asks Avantika to marry him so that they could stay together in New York as they were in love. The twist begins when Avantika is told by her neighbor in New York that how she is being used by terrorists and she is just a pawn in a big game plan. Avantika is also told that her life is in danger.

Rensil has directed the movie beautifully so is the dialogues and cinematography of the movie. Final word is that you should take some time out and watch the most powerful movie of 2009 yet.
