Chintu ji ,the name itself oozes a sweet charm that fills the heart with a ethereal charm that is very refreshing and full of life.

Chintu ji is the pet name of Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor and portrays him in the lead role.

This film is about the political aspirations of Chintu Ji who wants to make it big in the world of politics .Hadhbahedi’ offers him that perfect opportunity. However chintu ji happens to dislike the people and their lifestyle of this particular village. He harbours deep content for them, which is evident. The residents of Hadhbahedi’ favours chintu ji because they feel he can rightly voice their needs in the government and can redress their grievances which has remained unheard till date.

There is a subplot involving a clandestine relation between the journalist (Priyanshu Chatterjee) and chintu ji’s PR executive (kulraj Randhwa).

The movie has got some very sweet performances by Rishi Kapoor. The comic scenes are well co-coordinated and well sprinkled throughout the length of the movie.

Al the actors are very good in their own respective field, though the track of Priyanshu chatterjee with the terror act could have been avoided.

The film risk degenerating into a classical Bollywood melodrama, but is saved that disgrace by its superb comic timing, originality of script and some great performances.

Its time that the khan brothers realizes that Indian movies has come of age and remixing old patriotic numbers like “mere desh ki dharti” don’t fetch brownie points anymore.

A viewer in India has become mature, and a good well written well executed movie can only win their heats and not cheap melodrama.

Kissan is a pathetic melodrama from the khan camp and is heavily borrowed from the Manoj Kumar starrer “upkaar” Read more

If there is one word that describes this film then it is “funny”. From costumes to titles and the characterization everything in this movie bears a testimony of the dark comic humor of modern cinema.

Initially the film might have had very few takers, but with the skillful presentation by director Shashank Ghosh wins accolades both from the critics and the audiences.

Suspense thrillers has always been great crowd pullers, but producing a good thriller is not an easy job, and garnishing it with mindless romantic sequences and intolerable tracks are definitely not away to earn accolades with the audience.

Inspire of being in the business for so many years Dipak Tijori seems to be happily oblivious of these facts. As result we have a film where a super efficient successful lawyer known for his acumen to bail out the worst criminals, is suddenly hit by a guilty conscience out of the blue and abandons his job. If you think this was incredulous enough, the director seems to disagree and takes the story to even incredulous heights where the lawyer (Ajun Rampal) finds himself locked in a cat and mouse chase with the villain. In order to get rid of this terrible trap he requires the help of a police officer (Sunny Deol) and his girlfriend (Sagarika Ghatke) Read more

Gumnam – The Mystery: Surely fails to create an impact

Gumnam – The Mystery, a themed thriller, fails to create an impact of adventurous and suspense movie, as it was suppose to create. Produced by Shubir S Mukherjee, it is a low budget film as compared to most of the glamorized Indian movies. Although it aims at the story of an actress, still it lacks many aspects which make movie impact full and impressive. Although the director Neeraj Pathak left no stone unturned to make the movie somewhat remarkable, but it seems all his efforts are in vain due to a weak plot and story line. Casting in the movie does not make it a buzzing thriller of the year, as it has Mahima Chaudry in the lead accompanied with Dino Moria and Suman Ranganatahn. All of these actors have less attractive image in the box office and it seems there is no charm for the public to enjoy such movies. gumnaam-the-mystery

The story of the Gumnam The Mytery revolves around Ria played by Mahima Choudry. She is music video model aiming to rule the glittering film industry, as a top actor. Destiny creates a sudden encounter of her with Dev (Dino Moria), a stunt man in the industry and saves her life in tedious accident. Eventually they realize that this act of destiny was not a mere co incident actually they are made for each other. In the mean time, Ria gets a marvelous opportunity of playing a lead role in a film. She goes for the shoot to Shimla and there the whole mystery starts. She gets introduced to the director Muni Ghandi (Govind Namdeo), who forwards her screen test cassette to Remon (Suman Ranganathan). Why her screen test cassette goes to Remon and what she’s doing in Shimla, all these incidents create unanswered questions for Ria and then she begins her quest to solve the mystery.

This movie bombed in the box office and immediately following the release, it has been giving empty shows.

The movie surely fails to create an impact. If you’re looking for some more confusion in your life, try solving the mystery in Gumnam!

Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye: It’s time to be on your toes!

Dibakar Bannerjee’s, who was acclaimed for his film ‘Khosla ka Ghosla’, is out with yet another flick, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! This movie proves to be yet another enticing light entertainer. Under the banner of UTV motion pictures, it released on November 24 2008. It was produced by Ronnie Screwala. The executive producers are Siddhart Roy Kapur, Priya Sreedhan, Zarina Mehta and Deven Khote. The casting includes Abhay Deol, Neetu Chandra, Paresh Rawal, Archana Puran Singh and several others. The screenplay was done by Dibakar Banerjee and Urmi Juvekar.

With its location in Delhi, the movie begins with the introduction of the lovable thief Lucky (Abhay Deol), who loves to outsmart policemen and chowkidars with his wit and sharp mind. Overall, he is very influenced by the rich lifestyles of Delhiites and craves for all the good things in his life. It is also rumoured that this character is inspired by Bunty, who was Devender, the super thief and is currently awaiting his very trial in the Delhi Central Jail. Although Dibakar negates the comparison, but he does mention that this character is influenced by all the anonymous and known thieves and criminals, who take the wrong path, due to wrong morals, friend circle and family environment.oye-lucky-lucky-oye

The movie is definitely a tantalising tale and a smacking product. The triple roles of Paresh Rawal are entertaining and realistic. The other characters enhance the appeal of the film. The movie is rated 3 out of 5 and has been considered as hit among the Indian masses. It has made a business of 4.61 crores at the box office in the very opening week.

Intuitive camerawork, catchy soundtrack and impressive production design make the entire film, quite enthralling and challenging the viewers to be on their toes. Who knows, where another laugh comes in?

Luck By Chance: Breaking the run of flop movies in 2009

Luck By Chance was one of the most awaited movies in the early part of 2009. It features the glitterati of Mumbai film industry. In fact, considering the relations that a number of stars have with each other, Luck By Chance is a great feat accomplished by Farhan Akhtar, who has played the role of both the lead actor and producer of the movie. The film is released under the banner of Big Pictures and Excel Entertainment. The lead couple of the movie is Farhan Akhtar, who revolutionized his career as an actor with a startling performance in Rock On (2008), and Konkana Sen Sharma. Other stars of the movie include Hrithik Roshan, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Aamir Khan, Sharukh Khan and many more.

Luck By Chance is a movie about Bollywood – to a certain extent. It revolves around the way Bollywood works. The movie is the story of two strugglers (Konkona & Farhan) and a director, who is struggling because of circumstances. The movie has a number of high points including the whole sequence of Shahrukh Khan or the place where Hrithik walks out of the movie directed by Rishi Kapoor.

Luck By Chance, which got released on January 30, 2009, is good in every single aspect. Director has brought the capabilities of their performers remarkably. Zoya Akhtar has delivered a movie, which comes with a breeze of fresh air. If you think that after Chandani Chowk to China, you are done watching Bollywood movies, go for this one. You will realize what Bollywood is capable of.

If initial collections of Luck By Chance are anything to go by, the movie would deliver much needed respite to Bollywood, which has been waiting for a hit in the new year. All in all, Luck By Chance is a must watch movie, even if you are not a regular movie buff.
