Aasma: Sky is the limit. of poor film making

Every once in a while, Bollywood comes up with a movie, which just comes and goes without letting anyone know that they existed. Aasma, which hit the theaters on January 23, 2009, is one such movie. In fact, the movie is not regarded by critics as worth noticing either. Aasma – The sky is the limit released under the banner of Muzikzone Entertainment.

With what was on display in this Bollywood flick, Director Rohit Nayyar needs a lot of improvement to achieve reckoning amongst his large audience. A relatively unknown banner made a movie with a rather less known star cast. The male lead Shubhashish is a debutante while female leads Nauheed Cyrusi and Hrishita Bhatt are known for playing a few glam doll roles and nothing more. Seema Biswas is there, but it is hard to understand why she is so addicted to speaking English in a Hindi Movie!

Aasma – The sky is the limit is about a theater group, which is struggling to make it big. The catch is that the lead actor of group is caught with HIV. This is where things start to fall apart in the movie, as well as for it. You would be horrified to see the way in which a subject like HIV infection is treated.

Coming to production, the movie is loose to say the least and outright lousy in the worst cases. Editing, Direction, Writing and Production, every single thing in ‘Aasma – The sky is the limit’ is amateurish and the need to improve speaks out loud in it.

The initial collections of Aasma are just what you expect from a weak movie and things are not expected to improve. All in all, you may spend some extra hours slogging in office rather than watch Aasma.
